1st Heyford Park Scout Troop

1st Heyford Park Scout Troop

Do you have a young person who is interested in joining the adventure with our active Scout Troop? Then please send us an email at scouts@heyfordparkscouts.org.uk and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Alternatively you can call Candy or Nigel on 01869 233383.

Scouts meet between 7.00 – 9.00pm every Monday evening. We meet mostly year round including school holidays with the exception of Bank Holidays. We are a small troop but the advantage of this is that when we do activities there is very little waiting around!

As a troop we do a lot of activities and try and camp at least three times a year, in the past we have visited Staffordshire, Brownsea Island, Northampton, Nottinghamshire, Wales, Hertfordshire and the Peak District. We love survival camps, wide games and basically anything outdoors. The highlight of our year is our Summer Camp which is usually held in July/August which is a fun filled week of activities which have included quad biking, climbing, scuba diving, air-rifle shooting, go karting and caving.

All new starters will visit the troop for two weeks to see if they enjoy themselves. At the end of this period, one of the leaders will discuss with you when your son / daughter will be invested into the Troop.

Leaders

Nigel Heinrich – Scout Leader

Nigel is the Scout Leader having been a leader for almost 15 years now. He has overall responsibility for the running of the Troop including organising camps, fundraising and programme planning. He has activity qualifications in air rifle shooting, archery and climbing. Outside of the Troop he works as Project Manager/Chartered Builder. Current goals include completely replacing the website, buying canoes and finding a new minibus. He loves rabbits and survival camp.

Candy Stallard – Assistant Scout Leader

Candy is the Assistant Scout Leader and was awarded her 5 year service award in 2010. As well as organising things Candy also looks after the money and spent a year running the Troop in 2011/2012 when Nigel was working overseas. She has activity qualifications in air rifle shooting and archery. Outside of the Troop she works as an administrator for Oxford University and has just completed a Journalism degree. Candy loves sheep and cats.

Jackie Stillgoe – Troop Assistant

Jackie has been actively involved with the Troop since it was opened back in 2007. Her daughter Vicky was one of the first scouts to join and was also the first scout in the Troop to gain the Chief Scout’s Gold Award. Jackie helps out with anything and everything the Troop does on Monday nights and also on camps.
